The Southend Linux User Group has been meeting every week at the MediaShed Since November 2005, as a group we have functioned on a weekly basis since July 2003 when the group was initially formed. Now occupying larger premises to cope with demand we assist and train others to use the Linux Operating System and that of it's various and numerous application and management systems, in addition we assist various functions and workshops that are held at the MediaShed and recently other locations throughout the UK.

SoSLUG also provide product support and expertise for the software and management systems used by and within the MediaShed to communicate it goals and objectives to that of the community. The MediaShed and SoSLUG are in close partnership together and are committed to bring the highest possible standards and stability, with closer ties for the community network at large, with that of freely available and freely obtainable software to the benefit of the Companies, Prosumer and the individuals alike.

SoSLUG and MediaShed operate to provide technical and creative expertise to groups and or individuals provided the software is solely Open Source in nature, either that or protected under the creative commons license.

Both the MediaShed and SoSLUG use only open source software, that is to say software that is just as good if not better than proprietary software, and which is freely available to use or modify for the benefit of you and the other users.

As a SoSLUG and MediaShed member SoSLUG is always mindful that their is always someone who knows more than we do, to that that end we do not belittle that of your abilities, or presume we know better.
