How to change your desktop picture automatically within Linux

Like in That Other OS™ you can set up your desktop background image to change automatically every so often. I seem to remember somebody asking about this before, I had no idea at the time.

Automated Wallpaper

sudo apt-get install wallpaper-tray Wallpaper-tray is another and similar widget "I use this word advisedly" to that of "Drapes" it seems so similar in fact only the name is different. You will not find wallpaper-tray in any of the menus or from the command line, this widget is activated by selection by using right button click on the gnome bar and select "+ Add to Panel...." the widget is located somewhere within that list. The properties can then be adjusted to provide a constantly changing timed backgrounds. There is one flaw with this widget that I can see, and this is the resources such a widget consumes, we had originally thought the poor responsiveness of the laptop was due to the 64bit OS I choose. However after reinstalling with a 32 bit OS performance was sill poor using this widget.
